The method

Despegue exists to measure with data what this direction is actually producing and to show people where to get on board: where to work, where to start a business, where to invest. Our bet is stated up front: we believe that when the rules are respected —property, low taxes, open markets— Argentina’s real wealth (energy, mining, agriculture) turns into investment and jobs. That is a reading, not a data point: it is flagged as a thesis, and every figure we publish can confirm it or disprove it. The economy is opening up: there are trades, suppliers and ways of working that are not there yet. Naming that —with a figure and a source— is the work. Most don’t know these investment hubs exist — and the capital coming in is not just for the big players. We back it with the source next to every number so anyone can check it.

Every figure goes through the same thing before it is published: source, date and seal. None goes out without saying where it comes from, and the seal says how much we stand behind it: only what we read in the official source is «verified». Three steps, and none is skipped:

01AI at scale. AI systems I design and supervise extract and cross-check thousands of sources, directed by a Lead Implementer of the ISO/IEC 42001 standard (AI governance). The machine finds and cross-checks; publishing and assigning the seal is a human decision.

02Double-check. Before publishing, every claim is cross-checked and challenged: a second system, independent of the first, tries to knock it down. What doesn’t hold up is not published.

03Primary source. A data point is only «verified» when we have read it in the official source —the Official Gazette, INDEC, a balance sheet—. If we can’t reach that proof, we mark it as probable — we never inflate it. Every data point carries the link to that source and its date; if the source corrects, we correct.

And this is not a promise: this is how Vicuña appears on the site, with the same seal and the same link that every other figure carries. Note that the two do not weigh the same — we read the instrument, the amount is the announcement:

We publish the data and the method so you can decide with better information; the decision —and its risk— is yours. The seal tells you exactly how much each figure holds up. The full rules of use are in the Terms.

And a seal qualifies the proof, not the outcome: an investment marked «verified» means we read the act that announces it — not that the money will be disbursed. What is verified is the document; what happens next we track and update.
