Privacy Policy
This is everything that happens with your data on Despegue. It is short because we collect little.
Who answers for your data
The data controller is Ignacio Aredez (Despegue). For everything below, the contact is despegue@genaiaredez.com.
What we collect and why
The site works without accounts or sign-ups. The only personal data we collect is what you type into the «Join» form: your email, your profile (investor / work / start a business), the provinces you care about and whatever you tell us in the free-text field. We use it for one thing: sending you the news digest and letting you know when your province goes live. Along with that, the form tells us which page of the site you sent it from. It is not data about you: it is about the page, and we use it only to learn which content is useful. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We do not sell or share your data.
Who processes it
Formspree Inc. (USA) receives what the form sends and delivers it to us (their policy); the transfer to the US is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), which Formspree subscribes to as data processor. Vercel Inc. hosts the site and, like any web server, processes technical connection data —IP address, logs— to serve and protect the page (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; their policy). Plausible Insights OÜ (Estonia, European Union) measures visits anonymously and hosts the data inside the EU, so there is no international transfer to cover here (legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding aggregate use of the site, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; their policy and what data they handle). The detail of what we measure is below, under «Cookies and analytics». When the interactive map loads, your browser fetches files from unpkg.com (map libraries) and basemaps.cartocdn.com (CARTO basemaps): those services see your IP like any server a browser requests a file from.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, and there are no advertising or social-media trackers. To know which pages get read wemeasure visits with Plausible, which is built for exactly that: it uses no cookies, builds no profile of you, does not store your IP address and does not follow you across sites. Unique visits are counted with a code that is recalculated every day and cannot be traced back to who you are; what we see are aggregate statistics (most-read pages, country, where people come from), never individuals. We also record an event when someone completes the «Join» form, with the chosen profile (investor / work / start a business) and no personal data whatsoever. There is no banner because there is nothing to accept: with no cookies and no personal data, there is no consent to ask you for.
How long, and how to opt out
We keep your data while you want the updates. To unsubscribe or delete it, one email to despegue@genaiaredez.com is enough.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can access, rectify, erase and port your data, object to processing and withdraw your consent at any time — one email to the contact address does it. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
Effective date
This policy is effective as of Aug 23, 2026. If it changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
